3 Days in Barcelona: A Complete Itinerary

Three days covers Barcelona's Gaudi landmarks, the Gothic Quarter, and the beach at a reasonable pace for a first visit.

Day 1: Gaudi and Eixample

Start at the Sagrada Familia with a timed-entry ticket booked well in advance. Spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon exploring Eixample's other Gaudi buildings, including Casa Batllo and Casa Mila, both viewable from outside if you don't book interior tickets for each. In the evening, join a neighborhood bar for vermouth hour or simply explore Eixample's restaurant scene.

Day 2: Gothic Quarter and El Born

Spend the morning wandering the Gothic Quarter's narrow lanes, visiting Barcelona Cathedral and simply getting pleasantly lost in the surrounding streets. Continue to La Boqueria market for lunch, then explore El Born in the afternoon, including the Picasso Museum if his work interests you. End the day with a tapas dinner in El Born or the Gothic Quarter.

Day 3: Park Guell and the beach

Book an early time slot for Park Guell to see Gaudi's mosaic work and the city views before the crowds build. In the afternoon, head to Barceloneta for the beach and boardwalk, and consider the cable car or funicular up Montjuic in the late afternoon for views over the port as the sun starts to lower.

Getting around

The metro connects all three days efficiently, particularly for the longer hops to Park Guell and Montjuic. Central neighborhoods are walkable within each day.
