3 Days in Dubai: A Complete Itinerary
Three days covers Dubai's modern skyline, Old Dubai's souks, and a desert excursion at a comfortable pace.
Day 1: Downtown Dubai
Start at the Dubai Mall, then head up the Burj Khalifa — book a sunset slot if possible to see the skyline transition from daylight to illuminated at night. In the evening, watch the Dubai Fountain show from the promenade outside the mall.
Day 2: Old Dubai
Cross to Old Dubai (Deira and Bur Dubai) and spend the day exploring the spice souk and gold souk, crossing Dubai Creek by traditional abra boat between them. This is also a good day for a museum stop, like the Dubai Museum in Al Fahidi Fort, for context on the city's rapid growth.
Day 3: Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and desert safari
Spend the morning and early afternoon at Dubai Marina or the Palm Jumeirah, including beach time if the weather suits it. In the late afternoon, join a desert safari — dune bashing followed by a Bedouin-style camp dinner is the standard format, and it runs into the evening.
Getting around
The Dubai Metro connects Downtown Dubai and the Marina efficiently; Old Dubai and desert excursions are more practical by taxi, ride-hailing app, or an organized tour pickup.
What to pack
Modest dress for Old Dubai and public areas generally, plus layers for heavily air-conditioned indoor spaces — see our Dubai travel guide for the fuller packing list and seasonal heat warnings.
