Is Marrakech very hot?
Summer (June to August) regularly pushes past 35°C, sometimes past 40°C. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are far more comfortable for the extended medina walking the city is built around.
Do I need to haggle in the souks?
Yes — it's the norm rather than the exception. Asking prices are generally set expecting negotiation, so start well below the asking price and meet somewhere in the middle.
Are riads warm enough in winter?
Not always. Their open-courtyard design keeps them cool in summer but can leave them genuinely cold at night in winter without central heating — worth asking directly about heating before booking a winter stay.
Can I get around Marrakech without a taxi?
Within the medina, yes — most lanes are too narrow for cars, and walking is often faster than a taxi anyway. Reaching Gueliz or the Palmeraie needs a petit taxi or ride-hailing app.
